River Runners

Many of Florida’s waterways are home to hidden, peaceful coves that can only be accessed by kayak. Our knowledgeable guides will take you, your friends, family, coworkers, or the whole crew to our favorite spots along the Chipola River. Along the way, we’ll share insights into the park’s rich history, local wildlife, and scenic beauty.

An Underground Stream?

The Chipola River is fed by more than 60 springs, making it a unique waterway in Florida. At Florida Caverns State Park, part of the river actually disappears underground for a few miles, flowing through limestone passages before re-emerging. This section of the river is an example of the area’s karst geology—a landscape shaped by the dissolution of limestone over thousands of years. Just one of the hidden and visible wonders of this region.
