This amazing cavern system has many fascinating rooms to explore on the cave tour. Some spaces are relatively large and some are a bit small. Be prepared to duck under some lower cave ceilings or through narrow passages to explore this amazing natural Florida wonder.

This amazing cavern system was originally under the ocean! Thirty-eight million years of flowing water etched through the limestone. As the waters receded, the limestone caves were drained providing refuge for wildlife and humans alike.

There’s so much more to do at Florida Caverns State Park. Come experience fantastic trails (many right around the cave entrance), picnic pavilions, camping (35 campsites with electric and water), and swimming at Blue Hole! The park’s blend of natural beauty, recreational options, and well-equipped facilities makes it a must-visit destination. Coming soon we will offer canoe and kayak rentals on the Chipola River, bike rentals from the Adventure Center.

General Information

  • Florida Caverns State Park hours are 8 a.m. until sunset, 365 days a year.
  • The park entrance fee is $5 per vehicle (2-8 occupants), $4 for single occupant vehicles and $2 for pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • All plants, animals and park property are protected. Collection, destruction or disturbance is prohibited.
  • Pets are permitted in designated areas only. Pets must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and well behaved at all times.
  • Fishing, boating, swimming and fires are allowed in designated areas only. A Florida fishing license may be required.
  • Caves other than the tour cave are closed to the public, except by permit.
