The total distance you’ll walk is approximately ¾ miles from your starting point at the Visitor Center. The weather inside the cavern is 65 degrees and humid, year around. It is an adventure, to be sure!

For your safety:

  • Wear closed-toed shoes with sure grip soles.
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult. Keep your children under close supervision at all times within the Cavern.
  • NO backpacks, large purses or bulky totes. (Lockers are available in the Visitor Center.)
  • NO strollers or infant back carriers.
  • You may take pictures in the cave but… NO tripods or monopods are allowed.

In addition, Florida Caverns, its beautiful limestone formations and the wildlife that call the Caverns home are extremely sensitive to human interaction. To help protect this fragile environment, please observe the following rules:

  • DO NOT touch anything in the caves! Do not sit, stand, climb on, or kick anything (chemicals on our hands and skin will destroy the delicate formations)
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult
  • NO food, drink, gum, or candy
  • NO tobacco products or electric cigarettes
  • NO pets (except certified service animals)
  • Important. If in the past you have visited other caverns please take note: White-Nose Syndrome is a fungal infection which can kill entire bat colonies. It is spread through spores that can attach to your shoes and clothing while exploring a cavern. While harmless to humans it is deadly to bats. To prevent the spread of White-Nosed Syndrome, do not wear the same clothing, especially shoes, that you have worn in other caves.
