The underground world is always full of mystery and ready to amaze! This isn’t your average Florida experience—you’re about to step into a world where time seems to stand still, and nature’s beauty is on full display in the form of stunning limestone formations, winding passages, and unique wildlife. Grab your sense of adventure (and a sturdy pair of shoes), and let’s get exploring!
There are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind before you begin. First, make sure to wear closed-toed shoes with a solid grip. The entrance is a set of 33 steps that take you down into this incredible underground realm. As you explore, you’ll encounter everything from large, cathedral-like chambers to tight, narrow corridors. Some areas have ceiling heights of only 4.5 feet and sections that narrow to just 2.5 feet, that require a little ducking and weaving.
Travel light, and be sure to keep an eye on anyone who may need extra help. There are stairways, plus smooth walkways leading you to the deepest part of the cave, about 60 feet below the surface. Be warned, below the surface it’s darkish.
Altogether, the tour is considered moderate to challenging. But that’s part of the experience — and honestly, it’s what makes it so much fun.

Florida Caverns is the only dry cavern system open to tours in Florida, making it an exceptionally rare treasure. It’s been designated a National Natural Landmark. That means this place is not only beautiful, but it’s also incredibly important to preserve for future generations. The cave is teeming with geological wonders, from the intricately shaped formations to the small, sometimes elusive creatures that call this underground world home.

Field trips must have an educational focus. Application approval is required.
